What a referral partnership is, and what this one pays for
A referral partnership is an agreement in which one party introduces a buyer and the other party pays for the introduction once a sale happens. Banks, software companies, law firms and agencies have run versions of this for decades, usually informally and usually only between people who already trust each other.
Random Income turns that handshake into a system. On one side are brand partners: businesses with offers worth recommending, from predictive data and AI search visibility to complete technology builds. On the other side are Strategic Partners: consultants, CPAs, advisors, agents, attorneys, coaches, hosts and creators who know the buyers. We connect the dots between the two, then do the selling ourselves.
The idea behind it is that the future is built on unique people and unique data. Random Income is the unique people, the trusted voices inside every industry. Our technology partners and the predictivedata.org stack supply the unique data. Every industry is a geek away from being uberized, and the professionals who see that change coming are the ones best placed to introduce the fix.
That is why referral partnerships matter more now than they did a decade ago. Buyers are overwhelmed by cold outreach and automated pitches, and they increasingly act only on recommendations from people they already trust. A business referral partner program built on those people reaches decision makers that advertising cannot.
Who the program is built for
If you become a referral partner with us, it is because people already ask you who you trust. That rules out most people who search for referral partner jobs, and that is deliberate. We write a dedicated guide for each profession because each one has different clients, different conversations and different rules. Start with the one that describes you.
- Referral partner program for CPAs and bookkeepers: advisory clients who ask why growth spending is not working.
- Consultants and fractional executives: you diagnose the problem and can now be paid when someone else fixes it.
- Financial advisors, insurance agents and real estate professionals: business-owner clients and strict rules, so compliance comes first.
- Attorneys: law-firm owners and business clients, with state bar ethics guidance on every page.
- IT professionals and MSPs: the trusted technology adviser who keeps getting asked about AI.
- Business coaches, podcast hosts, speakers, authors and LinkedIn creators: audiences of owners who act on your recommendations.
- Association leaders, sales leaders, recruiters, marketing agencies and nurses: networks that cut across an entire industry.
From one introduction to a paid commission
The workflow is the same for every profession and fits into what we call the 2-hour work week: about two focused hours a week, mostly inside conversations you are already having.
- Take the test. It asks about your traits, your network and the hours you have, and our matching engine shows the opportunity that fits you best.
- Get your profile page at randomincome.com/first-last, with a share link, a QR code and a back office.
- Refer by sharing your link or uploading referrals one at a time or as a CSV file.
- Random Income sells, delivers and supports the client. You never negotiate or chase a signature.
- Watch every click, form and quote request on your referrals, so you know when a follow-up is worth making.
- See commission tracked in your back office and get paid once the balance qualifies.
Commission terms across the network
Every Strategic Partner is a 1099 independent contractor, never an employee and never on a W2. On products in our stack you earn a percentage of retail, calculated on redline, the price floor: 20% when the client buys entirely online without our team touching the deal, and 12% when an in-house Random Income rep works it. If we negotiate the price, your commission adjusts pro-rata to redline, so most partners think of the range as 12% to 20%.
Two programs work differently. Fast Start ($32,500 a month) and the Joint Venture build ($18,200 a month) pay your percentage only on the monthly SaaS fee we actually collect, with no equity, no success fee and no other upside. Investor-funded deals pay a one-time $5,000 referral fee and nothing else. When a business posts its own offer, you earn 50% of what that business pays Random Income for the sale. contacts.plus purchases earn 20% when bought directly online and 12% when sold by an in-house Random Income rep.
Recurring commissions last as long as the client keeps paying. If a client is refunded or a payment is charged back, the commission on that sale is deducted from your balance.
We pay on the 21st of the month after we are paid, once your balance reaches $500, by Stripe or PayPal. You upload an ID and a W-9 before your first payout and receive a 1099-NEC. Top partners can qualify for perks such as a company-car lease and an annual Caribbean development trip.
Your profession's rules come before our program
Professionals carry obligations that ordinary affiliates do not, and we treat that as part of the value rather than fine print. CPAs work under the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct, including ET 1.520 on commissions and referral fees. Attorneys answer to their state bar, with ABA Model Rule 7.2 and Rule 5.4 as the starting points. Registered financial advisors usually need firm approval for outside business activities. Real estate professionals must keep anything near a settlement service clear of RESPA Section 8. Clinicians never refer patients or share health information. Employees should read their moonlighting and non-solicitation terms.
The common thread is simple: check your profession's rules on referral fees, because some professions restrict or prohibit them; disclose the relationship in writing; refer only when the service genuinely fits, and ask your regulator, firm, board or counsel before you accept compensation if there is any doubt. Our referral fee rules by profession guide collects the starting points in one place. It is general information, not legal advice.
Who should not join
This is not a job, a salary or a way to replace your income quickly. Commission depends on whether a referred business buys, and some introductions will never close. Passive income is not the right label for it either; the money follows real conversations and real trust, and partners who refer carelessly lose the very credibility that makes their introductions worth anything.
If you do not have a network of business owners or decision makers yet, or if your employer or regulator prohibits outside compensation, wait. If you do, take the test and see which opportunity fits the network you have already built.
