You hear the growth plan before anyone else does
A business owner who wants a line of credit, an equipment loan or a real estate facility has to tell their banker why. You read the projections, you ask how the new location will fill, you hear that the sales team is two people short and that the marketing budget is a guess. You see the operating account every month, so you notice when ad spend climbs and deposits do not.
Most commercial bankers already act as informal advisers. Owners ask who you would call for a CPA, an attorney, an insurance broker or a fractional CFO, and you answer because helping the client grow is good for the relationship and good for the loan. A referral partner program adds a small set of technology introductions to that list, for the moments when the honest answer to a growth problem is better data or better visibility, not more debt.
The future is built on unique people and unique data. You are the unique person in that sentence: trusted, informed and close to the decision. Random Income and the R0cketShip and predictivedata.org stack bring the data.
Bank policy, disclosure and the questions to ask first
Banks take outside business activity seriously, and they should. Most institutions require employees to disclose and get approval for outside activities and outside compensation. Many have specific policies on referring customers to third-party vendors, and some prohibit bankers from accepting anything of value from a company a customer does business with. Federal banking rules also restrict bank employees from accepting things of value in connection with bank business, and your institution's code of ethics will explain how it applies them.
So the order of operations matters. Before you take the test, read your code of conduct and your outside-activity policy. If they are unclear, ask compliance in writing whether a personal 1099 referral relationship with a marketing technology company is permitted, and on what conditions. If approval is required, get it. If the answer is no, respect it.
Where it is allowed, keep three habits. Never connect a referral to a credit decision, pricing or approval in any way. Disclose in writing to the client that you may receive a referral fee. And keep the referral activity on your own time and devices, separate from bank systems. This is general information, not legal or compliance advice.
Scenarios from a relationship manager's week
The best introductions grow out of conversations you are already having in annual reviews, site visits and loan renewals. A few that come up again and again:
A distributor wants to expand into a second region and asks how other clients find customers in a new market. Predictive Data reveals who is in-market in those ZIP codes and pushes it into their CRM, so the new territory starts with names rather than guesses.
A professional-services firm tells you new clients keep saying they asked an AI assistant for a recommendation. Quuik is built to get a business cited in those answers.
An owner is weighing a second salesperson against a technology investment. Before adding a salary, vrtcls.marketing can run intent-based outbound email where every click makes the next send smarter.
A founder with an idea outside the core business asks how to test it without betting the company. Fast Start takes an idea to an MVP in market, and the Big Idea application at jeff-cline.com/idea lets owners see whether they qualify for a larger technology investment.
What the process looks like for a banker
You take the free test about your strengths and the hours you have, and the matching engine shows the opportunity that best fits. You get a profile page on randomincome.com with a share link, a QR code and a back office. Most bankers plan on about two focused hours a week, because the work is noticing the moment and making a clean introduction, not running a sales cycle.
When a client wants to learn more, you send your link with a disclosure line or upload the referral in your back office. Random Income runs discovery, the proposal, delivery and support with the client directly. You never negotiate a price or sit in on a sales call unless the client asks you to. In your back office you see every click, form and quote request on the referrals you send.
- Confirm bank policy and obtain any approval required.
- Take the free test and get matched to the best-fit opportunity.
- Introduce with a written disclosure, never tied to credit.
- Random Income sells, delivers and supports the client.
- Track activity and commission in your back office.
How the banker referral program pays
Strategic Partners are 1099 independent contractors, never employees of Random Income, and the partner account is yours as an individual, never the bank's. On stack products you earn a percentage of retail calculated on redline, the price floor: 20% when the client buys fully online without our team working the deal, 12% when an in-house Random Income rep works it, and pro-rata to redline if we negotiate the price. Recurring commissions last as long as the client keeps paying; refunds and chargebacks are deducted from your balance.
Fast Start ($32,500 a month) and the Joint Venture build ($18,200 a month) pay your percentage only of the monthly SaaS fee collected, with no equity or success fee. Investor-funded deals pay a one-time $5,000 referral fee and nothing else. Business-posted offers pay 50% of what the business pays Random Income. Payouts run on the 21st of the month after we are paid, once your balance reaches $500, by Stripe or PayPal, after you upload an ID and a W-9. You receive a 1099-NEC.
Where this fits, and where it does not
It fits bankers who already make introductions for clients, who have approval to do so, and who want those introductions to carry modest commission without changing their role. It suits treasury and business development officers, SBA-focused relationship managers and retired bankers who still hold strong owner relationships, as long as everyone involved knows about the arrangement.
It does not fit if your institution prohibits outside compensation, if you would feel any pressure to tie a referral to a lending outcome, or if you are looking for steady pay. Random income is irregular by design. Approached carefully, it is a disciplined way to be more useful to clients. Take the test once compliance has cleared it.
